Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has raised the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by Rs 3.89 per kg in Delhi-NCR, effective from August 29. This is the fifth increase in CNG prices this year, with the revised rate now standing at Rs 86.98 per kg.

The company cited international liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices as a reason for the hike, saying they remain elevated due to the West Asia crisis. IGL claimed that the price increase is necessary to offset the higher cost of gas.

In response to the price hike, auto and taxi unions have demanded an immediate fare increase and threatened to go on strike if their demand is not met. The All-Delhi Auto Taxi Transport Congress Union and the Auto Taxi Transport Congress Cell have announced separate strikes for September 7-8 and 9, respectively.
