India's gas prices have taken another hit due to the ongoing West Asia crisis. The Indian Gas Ltd (IGL) announced a price hike for compressed natural gas (CNG) in Delhi by ₹3.89 per kg, effective from August 29. This brings the CNG price in Delhi to ₹86.98 per kg from ₹83.09 per kg earlier.

The cumulative rise in CNG prices this year is nearly ₹10 per kg, with the initial increase of ₹6 per kg in May taking the price to ₹83.09 per kg before the recent hike.

IGL cited a sharp rise in international LNG prices as the reason for the price hike. The government has also approved an incentive scheme for city gas distributors to increase domestic PNG connections from September 1, 2026, aiming to reduce subsidy expenditure and shift from LPG to piped gas.
