Coastal Bend LNG Advances $2 Billion Texas Export Project
Cross-border liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects continue to gain traction in the United States, with Coastal Bend LNG taking a significant step forward by initiating the pre-filing review process for its proposed 19.2 million tons per annum (MTPA) export terminal on the Texas Gulf Coast.
The developer plans to file its formal application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) under Section 3 of the Natural Gas Act in early 2027, marking a key milestone in the project's development timeline. The facility will consist of four liquefaction trains, along with associated storage and vessel loading infrastructure.
Coastal Bend LNG CEO Nick Flores described the pre-filing start as a reflection of disciplined engineering, commercial, and regulatory execution. The company aims to work transparently with FERC, cooperating agencies, communities, and other stakeholders during the review process.
