Colombia Prepares for Natural Gas Rationing Amid Terminal Maintenance
The Colombian government is advising schools and businesses to operate remotely for several days as the country prepares for natural gas rationing due to planned maintenance at its sole import terminal.
The SPEC Liquified Natural Gas port in Cartagena, Bolivar department, Colombia will be undergoing maintenance, prompting the administration of outgoing President Gustavo Petro to prioritize gas supply for thermal power generators on the Caribbean coast that rely on imports of liquefied natural gas from the terminal.
The government is urging schools and businesses to go remote starting next week as a precautionary measure to minimize disruptions during the maintenance period.
