Commodity Prices Hold Steady Amid Minor Fluctuations
Wholesale cash prices for various commodities remained relatively stable in New York on Friday. According to data, broilers were selling at an average price of $1.1678 per pound, while cheddar cheese blocks were priced at $14.95 per pound in Chicago. Coffee prices also held steady, with Brazilian coffee averaging $3.24 per pound and Colombian coffee selling for $3.91 per pound.
The prices of other commodities, such as eggs, flour, hogs, pork loins, and steers, were also reported. Eggs were priced at $0.685 per dozen in Chicago, while hog prices averaged $89.17 per hundredweight in Iowa-South Minnesota. Pork loins sold for an average of $1.10 per pound in the Mid-US region, and feeder steers were priced at $381.25 per hundredweight in Oklahoma City.
The data also included prices for grains and feeds, including corn, oats, soybean meal, soybeans, and wheat. Corn was selling for an average of $4.96 per bushel in the Central Illinois region, while oats averaged $3.65 per bushel in Minneapolis. Soybean meal was priced at $48% protein per ton, and soybeans were averaging $12.60 per bushel in Illinois.
In addition to these commodities, prices for other metals, fibers, and energy sources were reported. Copper was selling for an average of $6.59 per pound on the Comex spot price, while cotton was priced at $0.87 per pound in the Mid-Minnesota region. Coal was averaging $1.00 per million Btu in Central Appalachia.
