Commodity Prices See Big Swings on Chicago Board of Trade
The Chicago Board of Trade saw significant changes in futures prices for various commodities on Wednesday, August 5. Corn Futures took a hit, with September down 4 at $4.37 and December down 4 at $4.60. Soybean Futures also decreased, with September down a half at $11.58 and November down 1 at $11.76.
On the other hand, Wheat Futures saw an increase, with September up 5 at $6.44 and December up 5 at $6.62. Live Cattle Futures rose, with October up 152 at $229.42 and December up 152 at $228.80. Feeder Cattle Futures also climbed, with September up 262 at $348.77 and October up 260 at $339.75.
Grain prices from The Andersons at Kent Bridge showed a mixed picture for corn and soybeans. The 2026 Crop Corn price was down 5 at $6.00/BU, while the 2027 Crop Corn price was down 1 at $5.99/BU. In contrast, the 2027 Crop Soybeans price was up a quarter at $14.90/BU.
Underwood Grain reported similar numbers for corn and soybeans, but with some discrepancies in wheat prices. The 2026 Crop Corn price was down 5 at $6.00/BU, while the 2027 Crop Corn price was down 1 at $5.98/BU. The 2027 Soft White Winter Wheat price was down 13 at $8.12/BU.
The U-S CME price for Ontario Pork Reports was $97.07 per hundredweight, dressed weight, which is down $0.19 from the previous day. The 100% formula price was up $0.19 at $247.30 per hundred kilograms, dressed weight.
