Commodity Prices See Mixed Movement on Chicago Board of Trade
The Chicago Board of Trade saw significant price movements for various commodities on Wednesday, August 12. Corn futures experienced gains, with September contracts up by 20 cents at $4.57 per bushel and December contracts also rising by 20 cents to $4.81.
Soybean futures followed suit, increasing by 14 cents in both September and November contracts, reaching $11.65 and $11.83 respectively. Wheat futures saw a notable rise of 22 cents for September contracts at $6.53 per bushel, while December contracts rose by 21 cents to $6.69.
However, live cattle futures declined, with October contracts down by $245 to $223.87 and December contracts also decreasing by $282 to $222.87. Feeder cattle futures saw a more substantial drop, plummeting by as much as $590 for September contracts at $339.35 and $630 for October contracts at $330.40.
In related news from The Andersons at Kent Bridge, the 2026 crop corn price rose by 20 cents to $6.21 per bushel, while the 2027 crop corn price increased by 10 cents to $6.08. Soybean prices for both 2026 and 2027 crops also saw slight gains, reaching $15.48 and $14.94 respectively.
Ontario Pork Reports provided an update on pork prices, stating that the U-S CME price dropped by $0.21 to $95.84 per hundredweight, dressed weight. The 100% formula price also decreased by $0.81 to $241.70 per hundred kilograms, dressed weight.
