Continental Doubles Down on Vaca Muerta with $4 Billion Bet
US investors are increasing their interest in Argentina's oil and natural gas reserves, particularly in the Vaca Muerta formation. Shale pioneer Harold Hamm is leading the charge with a major bet on the region's growth.
Continental Resources, a US-based energy company, has made a significant investment in Argentina's Vaca Muerta shale play. The company plans to spend $4 billion as part of its capital program, targeting 100,000 boe/d (barrels of oil equivalent per day) output. This joint venture controls 163,000 net acres in the region.
The increased interest from US investors is seen as a vote of confidence in Argentina's energy sector, which has been growing rapidly. The Vaca Muerta formation is considered one of the most promising shale plays globally, with significant potential for oil and gas production.
