Copper and Aluminum: A 16.5-Point Spread Widens Between the Two Metals
Copper and aluminum have taken vastly different paths in recent months, resulting in a significant spread between their prices.
The copper price has increased by +5.55% over the past month, with its three-month gain widening to +16.22%. Copper futures are trading at $6.613/lb as of August 17, just 3.7% below its 52-week high of $6.8665.
On the other hand, aluminum has dropped by -4.92% in the past month and -11.50% over three months, with its current price sitting at $3,355.50/tonne, 20% off its 52-week high of $4,195.
