Copper Hits Record High as Tariff Fears Boost Prices
Copper prices have surged to a new record high on the London Metal Exchange (LME) due to supply challenges and potential US tariffs. The United States Copper Index Fund ETF, CPER, has seen copper futures climb for a fourth consecutive session, reaching unprecedented levels. This uptrend is largely attributed to tight supply at key mines worldwide, as well as trade distortions resulting from potential US tariffs.
The LME reported that copper prices have reached a fresh record high, fueled by concerns over the impact of tariffs on global trade and the subsequent effect on copper supply chains. This development has significant implications for industries reliant on copper, including construction and electronics manufacturing.
