Adelaide is hosting one of the world's top copper conferences, Copper to the World 2026, which brings together nearly 600 industry leaders from around the globe. The event showcases South Australia's significant copper resources and its growing importance in meeting global demand.

Copper exports from South Australia reached a record $5.3 billion in the year to June 2026, contributing to a total of $7 billion in energy and mining exports. Minister for Energy and Mining Tom Koutsantonis emphasized that South Australia is 'Australia's copper capital', with almost two-thirds of the country's known copper resources located in the state.

Copper demand is expected to grow significantly as the world shifts towards cleaner energy, advanced technology, and electrification. The conference will explore ways to improve productivity, develop competitive supply chains, and seize investment opportunities in the industry.
