Copper Price Suppression Continues to Constrain Wire and Cable Market

Copper prices have continued to suppress downstream order releases in the wire and cable market, despite fluctuations throughout the week.

The operating rate of SMM copper wire and cable enterprises recorded a 66.27% WoW and YoY decrease of 0.48 percentage points during the period August 28, September 3.

Copper prices pulled back briefly but failed to effectively boost order growth, with high prices continuing to constrain demand and driving a small volume of rigid-demand orders at the end of the week.

Despite approaching peak season, demand across various sectors has yet to show substantive recovery, and enterprises remain cautious and wait-and-see regarding order releases.
