Copper Prices Fluctuate Amid Supply Concerns
Global copper and zinc markets are experiencing mixed signals as prices fluctuate in response to changing supply and demand conditions.
Copper, in particular, has dropped due to rising inventories monitored by the Shanghai Futures Exchange. However, concerns over supply disruptions have limited its downside. The Democratic Republic of Congo's ban on copper and cobalt concentrate exports has raised red flags for potential shortages.
Meanwhile, China's imports of unwrought copper and copper products fell 11.5% year-on-year in July to 425,000 metric tons. Despite this decline, prices are expected to rise due to ongoing supply concerns.
