Copper Prices Hold Steady Amid Supply Deficit and US Tariff Expectations
Copper prices have been holding steady after a copper supply deficit persisted, according to Traders Union.
The current price of copper is $6.6228, marking a modest gain for the session.
The supply deficit and expectations of new U.S. tariffs on refined copper imports are driving up prices, with copper futures recently reaching a new high above $14,300 per tonne in August 2026.
The U.S. Commerce Department recommends phased universal tariffs starting at 15% in 2027 and rising to 30%, which is expected to raise import costs and shift global trade flows.
