Copper Prices Pull Back After Record Run, But Demand Remains Strong for India
Copper prices have pulled back after a sharp rally, posting their biggest one-day decline in more than three weeks as a surge in deliveries to London Metal Exchange (LME) warehouses eased a supply squeeze.
The retreat has raised questions over whether copper's recent bull run is losing momentum and whether the correction could spill over into Indian metal stocks after their recent gains.
Despite the price correction, copper remains strategically important for India due to its critical role in electricity networks, electric vehicles, renewable energy, electronics, and data centres.
The metal's supply cannot respond quickly to rising demand as developing a new mine takes 10-20 years from exploration to commercial production.
