Copper Prices Soar as Dollar Weakens, Hindustan Copper Shares Rise
Hindustan Copper's shares rose nearly 4% in Friday's trade due to higher copper prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange.
The surge in copper prices is attributed to a weaker US dollar, which has caused the rupee to appreciate by 6 paise against the US dollar, reaching ₹95.65 from ₹95.71.
According to Sunny Agrawal, head of fundamental research at SBI Securities, growing demand from data centres and EV applications has led to a tightening of exchange inventories, driving up copper prices.
Copper prices have also been supported by easing expectations of US interest rate hikes and tariff-driven trade flows, amid continued uncertainty regarding the potential imposition of US import tariffs on refined copper, Agrawal added.
