Copper Prices Soar on Tightening Supply Outside US
Copper prices have gained ground due to declining inventories and tightening supply outside the United States. The London Metal Exchange (LME) copper inventories fell by a significant 48% since late May, reaching 204,975 tonnes.
The cash premium over three-month futures surged to $256.50 per tonne, its strongest level since June 2025, highlighting nearby supply tightness.
However, the Yangshan premium fell to $96 per tonne from $115 last month, indicating weaker Chinese import demand due to elevated prices discouraging buying.
