Copper Prices Soar to Record High: 5 Indian Investment Options
Copper prices have reached an all-time high of $14,533 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange (LME), surpassing their previous record in January. This surge in copper prices has prompted experts to weigh in on various investment options for Indian investors.
The three-month benchmark copper price on the LME has broken its previous record set in January, according to an ANI report on August 8th. Experts suggest that investors have several ways to gain exposure to copper, including Indian mining stocks and MCX futures.
Some of the Indian stocks offering copper exposure include Hindustan Copper, Hindalco Industries, and Vedanta, which provide direct or diversified copper exposure. However, experts caution against using MCX copper futures solely for long-term investment, as they are a trading instrument that carries risks.
Investors seeking equity exposure can consider metal-focused mutual funds like the Mirae Asset Nifty Metal ETF, which invests in companies across the metals and mining sector. Alternatively, diversified equity funds or global copper-mining ETFs such as the Global X Copper Miners ETF (COPX) may be suitable for those comfortable with higher risks.
