Copper Prices Soar to Record Highs Amidst Surging Demand
Copper prices have hit record highs and are expected to rise further due to surging demand from electrification, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.
The London Metals Exchange has seen copper trading at over $14,150 per ton, and analysts predict it could reach new highs above $14,500 per ton by the end of January 2026.
With many major existing mines aging and declining in production quality, Australian projects are well-positioned to benefit from the growing demand for copper. Companies such as QMines (ASX:QML) and CuFe (ASX:CUF) are advancing their projects towards production, taking advantage of the record prices.
QMines' executive chair Andrew Sparke noted that the market is becoming increasingly tight due to declining grades at many existing operations. 'Quality, development-ready copper projects in established mining jurisdictions are becoming increasingly valuable,' he said.
