The Scrap Monster Price Index revealed that scrap metal prices had a mixed week from July 31 to August 6, 2026. Copper was the standout performer with all tracked grades increasing in value.

Cu/Al Radiator Ends led the advance with a 7.69% week-over-week gain, while Xmas Lights followed with a 6.06% increase. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing posted the largest gain among benchmark grades, rising 3.55%, with #1 Copper Wire and Tubing up 3.49% and #1 Copper Bare Bright climbing 3.44% week over week.

The elevated copper prices on global exchanges underpinned scrap valuations as higher refined copper costs boosted replacement values and spurred buying interest.
