Copper Surges to Record Highs Amid US Tariffs and Tight Supplies
Copper prices have been on a record-breaking run in 2026, fueled by a surge in shipments to the US ahead of potential tariffs and tightening supplies elsewhere.
The metal has broken multiple records on the London Metal Exchange (LME) this year, with prices reaching $14,737 per tonne in September 2026 - a nearly 50% increase over the past year.
According to Mr. Ashish Rajodiya, Head of Commodity at PL Capital Group, underlying supply conditions remain tight, but the recent correction in copper prices appears driven more by positioning than genuine shifts in demand.
