Corn Breaks Above $5 as U.S. Grain Markets End Week on High Note
The U.S. grain markets ended the week on a high note, with corn futures settling above $5 per bushel for the first time in August. The increase was driven by new export business and favorable weather conditions.
According to AgroLatam, December corn futures rose 5 cents to $5.0850 per bushel, while September soybean futures added 4.25 cents to $12.25 per bushel. However, winter wheat moved lower, with September Chicago SRW futures slipping 1.25 cents to $6.8150 per bushel.
The stronger corn prices have significant implications for U.S. farmers, who may now consider protecting revenue and improving cash-flow projections in anticipation of the 2026 harvest.
Weather remains a key factor in determining crop prospects, with NOAA's Climate Prediction Center outlook favoring above-normal temperatures across much of the central United States heading into September.
