Corn Futures Close Thursday with Gains Amid Lower Export Sales

Corn futures closed on Thursday with gains across various contracts, reaching near-intraday highs. The CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price increased by 1 1/2 cents to $4.09 3/4. Export Sales data from the USDA reported 116,740 MT of corn sold for the 2025/26 marketing year, a marketing year low and 31.5% below the same week last year.

The top buyers for this shipment were South Korea with 86,100 MT and Colombia with 84,300 MT. Meanwhile, sales for the 2026/27 marketing year totaled 1.027 MMT, slightly below the previous week's high but still on the higher end of expectations.

Brazilian corn exports in July reached 1.943 MMT, surpassing the month prior but down 21.16% from the same period last year. ANEC estimates August export totals at 4.08 MMT, a drop of 3.26 MMT from last year if realized.

Corn futures prices for various contracts closed as follows: Sep 26 Corn at $4.39 (up 2 1/4 cents), Nearby Cash at $4.09 3/4 (up 1 1/2 cents), Dec 26 Corn at $4.62 (up 2 cents), Mar 27 Corn at $4.77 1/2 (up 1 3/4 cents), and New Crop Cash at $4.12 3/8 (up 1 1/4 cents).
