Corn futures surged overnight after disappointing crop tour results from Pro Farmer.

The forecast predicted U.S. corn production to decline more than expected, with a yield of 173.2 bushels per acre for the 2026-2027 marketing year.

This is down from last year's production of 17.021 billion bushels on a yield of 186.5 bushels an acre.

The Ag Department had previously estimated production at 16.013 billion bushels on a yield of 180.7 bushels an acre, but the new forecast indicates a more significant decline.
