Corn Futures Surge as Flooding and Pro Farmer Tour Boost Prices
The corn futures market is experiencing a surge, with December corn closing at a three-month high. The contract rose to $5.03 1/2, its first close above $5.00 since May.
This uptick can be attributed to recent flooding in the eastern Corn Belt and the Pro Farmer Crop Tour, which has been yielding price-bullish results so far. Additionally, a weaker U.S. dollar index this week has also contributed to the grain markets' bullish sentiment.
The Pro Farmer Crop Tour's findings have been leaning towards higher yields for corn, but recent scouting in Illinois measured average yield potential at 184.19 bu. per acre, down from 199.57 bu. per acre in 2025 and the three-year average of 199.15 bu. per acre.
