Corn Leads Grain Shipments Amid Rising Wheat Exports

Corn led U.S. grain shipments in the week ending August 6, according to USDA export inspections. The country shipped out 68.5 million bushels of corn, down nearly 8 percent from the previous week but still 14 percent above the same period last year.

Soybean inspections totaled 14.7 million bushels, up 15 percent for the week but 27 percent below last year's figures. China accounted for about 2.4 million bushels of soybeans, all through the Mississippi River export region.

Wheat shipments rose to 15.5 million bushels, a 24 percent increase from the previous week and slightly above last year's numbers. Pacific ports handled most wheat movement, led by the Columbia River region.
