Corn Market May Be Pricing in Bigger Crop Than Reality
Market analyst Mike Zuzolo from Global Commodity Analytics warns that the corn market may be pricing in a larger crop than conditions support. Speaking to RFD-TV, he notes that crop conditions in several top corn-producing states are below where they were at this point last year.
Zuzolo points out that Illinois has not rated more than 60% of its corn crop as good to excellent since mid-June, and recent declines in Kansas also suggest a potential issue. He believes traders are acting as though production is already certain when significant variables remain.
Looking beyond the US, Zuzolo notes that weather challenges in Europe and ongoing concerns over global input costs could continue to influence grain markets in the weeks ahead, keeping volatility elevated as the growing season progresses.
