Corn Prices Pull Back on Thursday Amid Export Sales Data
Corn futures pulled back on Thursday after a strong rally in the first half of the week. Contracts slipped 3 to 4 ¼ cents in the front months, with deferreds down as much as 8 ¼ cents. The CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price was back down 3 cents at $4.82.
The export sales data for this morning showed a marketing year low of 31,220 MT of old crop corn sold in the week ending on August 20. The Netherlands and Japan were among the top buyers, with the Netherlands purchasing 100,560 MT and Japan buying 84,200 MT.
New crop bookings reached a marketing year high of 1.066 MMT in that week, with unknown destinations being the largest buyer at 438,000 MT. Total accumulated sales for 2026/27 were tallied to 12.458 MMT, down 33.6% from the same week a year ago.
