Corn Prices Rise as Yields Worry Farmers

U.S. corn condition ratings declined to 60% good to excellent this week, two points below the five-year average and behind 71% on this date last season.

Iowa remains the top corn-producing state with an impressive 78% of its crop rated as good or excellent, unchanged from the previous week but leading other major states by a significant margin.

The managed funds are long over 210K contracts, and despite some uncertainty in the crop's final yield, it's unlikely they will liquidate their positions anytime soon.

Corn prices have added over 30 cents since last week's USDA report, with demand remaining robust but facing headwinds from energy markets.
