Corn Prices Slide Amid Ongoing Global Supply Tightness
Corn prices retreated on Friday but are still headed for a second weekly gain as expectations of lower US output and tighter global supplies persist.
The most-active corn contract on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) fell by 0.6% to $5.00-1/2 a bushel, down from its highest point since February 2025 reached on Thursday.
Wheat prices also eased slightly, but were supported by a squeeze on Russian and Ukrainian exports due to attacks on ports and vessels in the region.
The International Grains Council cut its forecast for global corn production in 2026/27 by 1 million metric tons to 1.305 billion tons, citing lower yields in major producing countries like Brazil.
