Corn Prices Start Week on Positive Note Amid Export Sales Data
Corn prices have started the week with modest strength, rising by 2 to 3 cents on Friday morning. This follows gains posted at the end of Thursday's trade, where contracts closed 1 ¼ to 2 ¼ cents higher and reached near-intraday highs.
The CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price was up 1 ½ cent at $4.09 ¾. Export sales data from the USDA showed 116,740 MT of corn for 2025/26, a marketing year low that is 31.5% below the same week last year.
The main buyers were South Korea with 86,100 MT and Colombia with 84,300 MT. Sales for 2026/27 totaled 1.027 MMT, slightly below the previous week's high but higher than expected, ranging from 0.7 to 1.2 MMT.
Ahead of next Wednesday's August Crop Production report from NASS, a Reuters survey of analysts predicts an expected yield at 182.4 bushels per acre, with a range of 180.5 to 184.8 bpa. Production is estimated at 15.934 bbu, with harvested acres trimmed by 76,000.
