Corn Shines as Soybean Shipments Falter in Latest Export Data

US corn exports continue to rise as the country's shipping efforts gain momentum. According to USDA FGIS data, US corn export inspections increased to 1.496 million tons in the week ended August 27, marking a 13.1% surge from the previous week and 6.1% above the level recorded during the same week last year.

This growth is part of an overall trend, with US corn export inspections reaching 83.8 million tons since the start of the 2025/26 marketing year on September 1, 2025, representing a 25.1% increase from the previous season.

The largest destinations for last week's shipments were Mexico with 510.5 thousand tons, South Korea with 264.5 thousand tons, and Japan with 173.1 thousand tons.

In contrast, US soybean exports showed a decline in weekly export inspections, falling to 250.8 thousand tons, down 41.7% from the previous week and 49% from the same period last year.
