Costco Hikes Motor Oil Prices Amid Ongoing Middle East Tensions
Costco has increased the price of its Kirkland Signature full-synthetic motor oil 5-quart two pack to around $58, up from approximately $30 last year. The wholesale club operator is also limiting customers to purchasing only two boxes a week.
The move comes as oil prices continue to climb due to ongoing tension in the Middle East. Brent crude has risen above $109 per barrel following disruptions to oil supplies since the start of the Iran war earlier this year.
Costco is also limiting purchases of Mobil 1's full-synthetic motor oil 1-quart six pack, which sells for about $44, to five per membership. The price hike and purchase limits are likely to affect Americans who rely on doing their own oil changes to save money, already facing high grocery prices and inflation worries.
