Cotton Futures Trade Steadily as Export Sales Data Released
Cotton futures are trading steadily at midday, with contracts ranging from 35 points higher to 5 points lower. This is in contrast to other markets, where crude oil is up $2.00 and the US dollar index has risen by $0.104. Export Sales data shows that a total of 209,360 RB were sold for the 2026/27 season in the week ending August 13, with 64,856 RB being new sales.
Shipments totaled 222,046 RB in the same period, and dry conditions are expected to persist across much of Texas. The Cotlook A Index has dropped by 10 points to 95.90 cents, while ICE certified cotton stocks remained steady at 70,643 bales on August 19.
The Adjusted World Price was increased by 190 points last week, reaching 68.19 cents per pound and remaining in effect through Thursday. Current prices for October 26 Cotton are $87.35, up 35 points, while December 26 Cotton is unchanged at $88.35. March 27 Cotton, however, has declined by 2 points to $90.12.
