Cotton Prices Slip Back on Friday Amid Strong Demand
Cotton prices slipped back on Friday morning, down 40 to 58 points so far. This comes after futures closed Thursday's session with contracts 12 to 24 points higher across the board.
Crude oil has regained some ground, rising $3.01 per barrel, while the US dollar index is up $0.269.
The latest Export Sales data showed a net cancellation of 55,855 RB (residential bags) of 2025/26 cotton in the week ending July 30, a marketing year low. In contrast, new crop business saw 242,052 RB reported for that same week, the third largest for the marketing year.
The largest buyer was Vietnam at 132,400 RB, followed by Turkey with 41,600 RB sold to them. Shipments were tallied at 222,830 RB, with Vietnam taking a significant portion of these at 88,900 RB.
