Crabb's Harbour Dredging Project Completes Ahead of LNG Vessel Operations
The major dredging project at Crabb's Harbour in Antigua and Barbuda has been completed ahead of the arrival of liquefied natural gas vessels. The harbour, which is crucial for the country's energy security and port infrastructure, was deepened to accommodate larger ships.
The Government holds a majority shareholding in Blue Ocean Dredging Company, which carried out the project. Testing is currently being conducted to ensure that the harbour meets the required depth and specifications for safe vessel traffic.
The project encountered difficulties due to hard-rock formations on the seabed, but the Government supported Blue Ocean's acquisition of specialized dredging equipment to strengthen its capacity.
