Crop Progress Report Shows Corn, Soybeans, and Cotton Advancing
The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) released its Crop Progress report on August 31, 2026. The report indicates that as of August 30, 2026, 92% of corn in 18 selected states had reached the dough stage, a significant increase from the previous week's 89%. This is also above the five-year average of 89%. Corn dented reached 72%, up from 56% the prior week and above the average of 62%. Corn mature stood at 14%, compared to 6% the previous week and the average of 13%.
Soybeans in 18 states had set pods by August 30, 2026, but slightly below the previous week's 97% and the five-year average of 93%. Soybeans dropping leaves reached 13%, up from 6% the prior week and above the average of 10%. The soybean condition was rated 50% good and 27% excellent.
Cotton in 15 states had set bolls at 91%, down from 89% the previous week but above the five-year average of 89%. Cotton bolls opening reached 29%, up from 20% the prior week and above the average of 28%. The cotton condition was rated 43% good and 31% excellent.
