Indian stock markets surged in early trade on Monday amid a sharp decline in crude oil prices. The Sensex jumped 470.06 points to 78,564.70, while Nifty climbed 150 points to 24,532.95.

The decline in Brent crude prices was significant, with the global oil benchmark trading 4.97% lower at $83.56 per barrel. This drop in oil prices was attributed to easing geopolitical tensions and a correction in risk sentiment.

Analysts attributed the positive market sentiment to several factors, including foreign fund inflows and improved investor sentiment following US President Donald Trump's indication that negotiations with Iran would resume on Monday.

'The decline in Brent crude to below $84, good progress in monsoon in July, and FIIs turning buyers are positive triggers for the market,' said VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Investments Limited.
