Crude Oil Prices Plunge Amid Weak Global Trends
Crude oil prices declined sharply on Wednesday in both domestic and global markets. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil futures for September delivery fell by Rs 132 to Rs 7,705 per barrel in a business turnover of 5,216 lots. The decline was attributed to participants offloading their holdings amid weak demand in the spot market.
Globally, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was trading 2.17 per cent lower at USD 80.57 per barrel, while Brent crude declined 2.10 per cent to USD 86.72 per barrel in New York. Analysts noted that weak global trends were the main reason behind the price drop.
The decline in prices has significant implications for investors who have been tracking the oil market closely. As crude oil is a major commodity, fluctuations in its price can impact various sectors of the economy, including transportation and energy.
