Crude Oil Prices Weigh on Indian Equities for Second Day
Indian equities continued their downward trend on Tuesday for the second consecutive session, with the Nifty 50 falling 0.46% to close at 24,471.70 and the S&P BSE Sensex dropping 0.49% to settle at 78,154.25.
The decline was largely due to rising crude oil prices, which have been hovering near a one-week high of $88 per barrel amid fading hopes of a US-Iran peace deal.
Financials led the broad-based decline, with banking and private bank indices among the worst-hit sectors. However, information technology stocks provided some support, with gains in Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, and HCL Technologies helping to limit the downside.
