Crude Oil Surge Sends Gas Prices Soaring Across New York

Crude oil prices have jumped back into the $100 to $110 per barrel range due to volatility in the Strait of Hormuz, causing gas prices to surge across New York. According to AAA Western and Central New York, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by 16 cents in just one week, reaching $4.31.

Meanwhile, New York's statewide average stands at $4.39 per gallon, up eight cents from last week. In comparison, this time last year, the state average was $3.25.

The Finger Lakes and Southern Tier regions have also seen a significant increase in gas prices. Elmira is averaging $4.24 per gallon, Ithaca at $4.32, Rochester at $4.30, and Syracuse at $4.26.
