Crude Oil Surge Sends Georgia Gas Prices Soaring
Georgia gas prices have surged to $3.79 per gallon on average as crude oil costs continue to rise, pushing pump prices higher due to ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East. This marks an increase of 7 cents from last month and a significant jump of 88 cents compared to this time last year.
The statewide average is now 3 cents higher than it was just a week ago, according to AAA, which notes that drivers can save money by comparing prices and filling up at stations with lower costs. In Cobb County, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline is about $3.82 per gallon, slightly higher than the statewide average.
The national average for regular gasoline has also risen, reaching $4.06 per gallon this week as crude oil prices have climbed back above $80 a barrel. AAA attributes this increase to continued uncertainty near the Strait of Hormuz and softer demand for gasoline. Despite these fluctuations, drivers can still find lower prices by using tools like AAA's TripTik Travel planner.
