Cyprus Set to Export Gas to Europe via Egyptian Pipeline

Cyprus is preparing to supply natural gas from its Cronos field to Europe as early as March 2028, according to Cyprus's Minister of Energy Michalis Damianos.

The Eni-TotalEnergies consortium plans to start work on a pipeline from the Cronos field to Egypt's Zohr gas field later this year. The approximately 105 km-long pipeline is expected to take up to 18 months to complete and will cost around $2 billion.

Once the gas reaches the Damietta plant in northern Egypt, it will be liquefied for shipment by sea to Europe. The Cronos reserves are estimated at over 3 trillion cubic feet of gas, with the entire volume expected to be directed to Europe.
