The Department of Agriculture (DA) is seeking P300 million in budget support for 2027 to develop the Philippine palm oil sector and reduce import reliance.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. emphasized the need for funding to enhance local palm oil production, noting that the country imports 90% of its palm oil requirements.

The DA plans to develop 300,000 hectares of palm oil plantations, aiming for 100,000 hectares by 2028 as a notable achievement.
