Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum Defy KRG Over Khor Mor Gas Supplies
Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum have begun supplying natural gas from the Khor Mor field in Iraq's Kurdistan Region to the country's Ministry of Electricity, but the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) claims they did so unilaterally and without approval.
The two companies denied the allegations, stating that they had informed the KRG in January about the agreement and kept them updated on discussions prior to it. They added that the deal was made 'in strict compliance with our exclusive marketing rights' and did not require additional authorization from the KRG.
The Khor Mor field is one of the Kurdistan region's most important gas assets, supplying fuel for power generation. The new supplies will support electricity production in Kirkuk, where Iraq struggles with persistent electricity shortages.
