Dangote Refinery's ambitious plan to double its refining capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2030 is facing a significant challenge - securing adequate crude oil supplies.

The refinery currently has a capacity of approximately 700,000 barrels per day and is undertaking an expansion program that will add an additional 700,000 barrels per day of capacity.

In its initial public offering (IPO) prospectus, the company warned that disruptions to crude supply could affect its ability to maintain throughput at or near design capacity.

The refinery relies on both domestic and international sources to meet its crude requirements, with 60% sourced from Nigeria through term contracts with NNPC Limited in 2025.
