Dangote Refinery Marks Turning Point for Nigeria's Downstream Petroleum Sector

The Dangote Refinery has been operational for 726 days since its announcement in September. The refinery's production of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) has marked a turning point in Nigeria's downstream petroleum sector.

Nigerians have taken to social media to reflect on the refinery's impact, using the hashtag #DangoteRefineryImpact. They highlight reduced fuel queues and increased availability of locally refined petroleum products.

Labibah Musa notes that Nigeria has never lacked crude oil but struggled with refining it domestically. With increased local refining, more value can remain within the country, strengthening its economy and creating opportunities.
