Danville Partners on Berry Hill Gas Project with Southwestern Virginia Gas
The city of Danville is making progress on providing gas to the Southern Virginia Megasite at Berry Hill. A two million-dollar loan was approved by the Tobacco Commission earlier this year, which will fund improvements for gas delivery.
Earlier plans to provide gas at Berry Hill proved too costly, with a new gas gate from the TransCo pipeline being much more expensive than extending an existing gas main from Stony Mill Road. The city is partnering with Southwestern Virginia Gas Company to connect natural gas to tenants.
The new 12-inch steel gas main will be mainly funded through grant money from the state, and should be ready by the end of the year. Microporous, one of the tenants at the park, needs gas service by March next year.
