Dar Orders Wheat Supply Boost Amid Import Decision

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has directed PASSCO to immediately supply wheat to the provinces as per approved allocations. The directive was given during a meeting in Islamabad to take stock of wheat stocks in the country.

The Deputy Prime Minister further instructed the provinces to ensure timely payments and lifting of allocated wheat supplies. He reiterated the decision to import up to one million metric tonnes of wheat, with Trading Corporation of Pakistan tasked with starting the process immediately.

Initially, 750,000 metric tonnes will be imported, with delivery scheduled for November. Dar emphasized that all concerned institutions must continue working in close coordination to ensure adequate wheat availability and stable prices.
