DC Circuit Upholds FERC Approval for Venture Global LNG's CP2 Project
The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit has upheld Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's approval for Venture Global LNG's CP2 project. The ruling clears a major legal hurdle for the Louisiana terminal and its associated pipeline, known as the CP Express Pipeline.
FERC had previously approved the project in 2021, but environmental groups challenged the decision. However, the appeals court rejected their petitions, allowing FERC's approval to stand.
The outcome is a significant win for Venture Global LNG and its investors. The company can now proceed with construction of the CP2 terminal and pipeline, which will enable the export of liquefied natural gas from Louisiana to international markets.
